The American Red Cross Safety Training for Swim Coaches (STSC) course, developed in partnership with USA Swimming, is intended to teach those involved in competitive swimming how to help: Maintain a comfortable and safe environment for swimmers. Prevent accidents and emergencies. Respond to swimmers with illnesses or injuries in water or on land.
Participants can also get CPR & AED certified. This will help participants recognize and respond appropriately to cardiac and breathing emergencies. The course teaches the skills that participants need to know to give immediate care to a suddenly injured or ill person until more advanced medical personnel arrive and take over.
Safety Training for Swim Coaches includes an online web-based delivery of content and a facility-based in-water skills session. Participants must be 15 years or older. Students who successfully complete this course will receive a certificate for Safety Training for Swim Coaches/First Aid certificate valid for 2 years.
