Frequently Asked Questions
Logistics & Certifications
What should I wear or bring to my safety training class?
Wear comfortable clothing that allows for movement, as most skills practice takes place on the floor. For Lifeguarding, bring a swimsuit; for Wilderness Medicine, prepare for outdoor weather. We also recommend bringing water and snacks.
What is your late arrival and attendance policy?
To maintain certification standards, students must arrive on time. Late arrivals are accepted only at the instructor’s discretion, and students will not be admitted if they arrive more than 15 minutes after the class start time. Tardiness resulting in non-admission is considered a “no-show,” and these sessions are ineligible for a refund or credit. To ensure a focused learning environment, we ask that students not be interrupted for non-emergencies. If an emergency requires you to step out, the absence must not exceed 10 minutes to remain eligible for certification.
When and how will I receive my certification card?
Most digital certificates are emailed within 24 hours of completing the course. For many in-person sessions, students receive their cards at the end of class. You can also access your American Red Cross digital certificates anytime via their website.
How long are my safety certifications valid?
Most CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications are valid for two years, while Wilderness First Aid (WFA) and Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certifications are often valid for three years. Always check your specific card for the expiration date.
Workplace & Compliance
Can Safety Training Pros help my business meet OSHA and CAL/OSHA requirements?
Yes, our on-site workplace courses are fully aligned with OSHA and CAL/OSHA emergency standards. We provide certified training in CPR, AED, and First Aid that ensures your company stays compliant while building a culture of emergency readiness.
Do you offer group training or discounts for workplace teams?
Yes, we provide group CPR, First Aid, AED, Lifeguarding, and Wilderness Medicine training with flexible on-site scheduling. Discounts are available. Contact us directly for a custom quote tailored to your organization’s specific needs.
How much does an AED cost and should my business have one?
A typical AED costs between $1,500 and $2,200 depending on features. We highly recommend AEDs for all workplaces because early defibrillation significantly increases survival rates during cardiac arrest. We offer AED sales, program management, and staff training.
What are the requirements to host a training class at my own facility?
To host an on-site class, you generally need a clean classroom space of approximately 500 sq. ft. per 10 students. Your facility should have climate control and restroom access. Safety Training Pros provides all necessary training equipment, including manikins.
Course Specifics & Selection
I’m not sure which safety class I need. Can you help me choose?
Yes, Safety Training Pros provides personalized guidance to help you choose the correct course based on your occupation or personal goals. We offer certifications from the American Red Cross (ARC), Health & Safety Institute (HSI) and Stop The Bleed®.
What is the difference between BLS and CPR certification?
BLS (Basic Life Support) is an advanced certification for healthcare providers, while CPR is designed for the general public and workplaces. BLS includes standard CPR skills plus advanced airway management, multi-provider team dynamics, and complex medical scenario management.
What is covered in your standard CPR, AED, and First Aid courses?
These courses teach you to respond to cardiac, medical, and trauma emergencies. Skills include performing CPR, operating an AED, choking response, bleeding control, and managing injuries like burns or head trauma. Training includes hands-on practice for real-world confidence.
Can I take a hybrid or online CPR course?
Yes, we offer hybrid courses that combine convenient online learning with an in-person “skills session.” This allows you to complete the knowledge portion at your own pace while still receiving the hands-on instructor validation required for certification.
Wilderness medicine
What is included in Wilderness First Aid (WFA) training?
WFA is a 16-hour course covering patient assessment and emergency care in remote areas where professional help is delayed. Topics include trauma management, environmental emergencies (hypothermia, heat illness, altitude), and evacuation through hands-on backcountry scenarios.
Do I need medical or professional experience for Wilderness First Aid?
No, there are no medical prerequisites for Wilderness First Aid training. This course is designed for anyone—guides, scouts, or outdoor enthusiasts—who spend time in areas where emergency medical services are more than a few minutes away.
