Renew your American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification FAST!  Prior to your in-person training, you will need to complete both the online program (*see below for System Requirements) and read the NEW r24 American Red Cross Lifeguard Participant Manual. You can start by registering for your class and then you will be sent information via email on how to access the Manual (ebook) and the online program! Your in-person training time will focus on water rescue skills and hands on professional CPR/AED & First Aid.

To successfully complete the r24 Lifeguard recertification program participants must:

  • Complete the online course prior to the in-person sessions.
  • Actively participant in all course activities, including assuming various roles during skill practices, skill drills, activities and scenarios.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in all skillsLifeguard Certification
  • Pass the final written exam with 80% or better.
  • Pass the 3 final skill assessments.

 

Class Prerequisites: Must have a current American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification. Must be at least 15 years old and pass certain swimming requirements:

  • Complete a swim-tread-swim sequence without stopping to rest: Jump into the water and totally submerge, resurface then swim 150 yards using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both. Goggles allowed. Maintain position at the surface of the water for 2 minutes by treading water using only the legs. Swim 50 more yards.
  • Complete a timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds: start in the water, swim 20 yards (no goggles). Surface dive to a depth of 7-10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object. Return to the surface and swim 20 yards on the back to return to the starting point, holding the object at the surface with both hands and keeping the face out at or near the surface. Exit the water without using a ladder or steps.

 

Students are also required to have an Adult & Pediatric Resuscitation Mask for the class and on the job. If you already own one, bring it to class. Otherwise you can purchase both masks in a kit for $20 from your instructor on the first day of class. Cash or venmo only.

Please note: Class is non-refundable and non-transferable. Failure to complete course pre-work, or pass the prerequisite swimming evaluation, failure to show up or late arrivals, or failure of any portion of the class is non-refundable. The class will require some strenuous physical activity. You are encouraged to check with your healthcare professional before participating.
