Earn your American Red Cross Shallow Water (up to 5 feet) Lifeguard Certification in just three days! This comprehensive course ensures you stay up-to-date with the latest skills and protocols. Attendance on all days is required to complete the program.
Course Details
Before attending, participants must complete:
- An online training program (system requirements below).
- Reading the r24 American Red Cross Lifeguard Participant Manual (accessible as an ebook post-registration).
The in-person sessions will focus on:
- Water rescue techniques.
- Hands-on practice for CPR/AED and First Aid.
To Successfully Complete the Course:
- Finish the online training before attending the in-person sessions.
- Participate actively in all course activities, including skill practices and scenarios.
- Demonstrate proficiency in all skills.
- Pass the final written exam with a score of 80% or higher.
- Pass the three final skill assessments.
Prerequisites:
- Be at least 15 years old.
- Pass the following swimming requirements:
- Swim-Tread-Swim Sequence: Jump in, submerge, resurface, and swim 50 yards using front crawl, breaststroke, or both (goggles allowed). Tread water for 2 minutes using only legs, then swim another 50 yards.
- Timed Event: Within 50 seconds, swim 20 yards (no goggles), dive to retrieve a 10-pound object from 4–7 feet deep, and return it to the surface. Swim 20 yards on your back holding the object, keeping your face near the surface, and exit the water without using steps or a ladder.
Required Equipment:
- An Adult & Pediatric Resuscitation Mask (available for $20 if you don’t already own one; cash, check, or Venmo accepted).
Certification Earned:
Upon successful completion, students will receive the American Red Cross Shallow Water Lifeguarding (up to 5 feet) certification, including CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid, valid for 2 years.

- Failure to complete course pre-work, pass the prerequisite swimming evaluation, show up on time, or pass any portion of the class will result in forfeiture of the class fee.
