Wilderness First Responder Class Prerequisites

A valid Wilderness First Responder certification is required. Current certification in Basic Life Support is recommended.

What You’ll Learn

During the WFR Recertification course, participants will:

• Review trauma, medical, and environmental emergency management
• Practice & Test the Patient Assessment in-person
• Participate in scenario practice and skill drills
• Refresh leadership, teamwork, evacuation, and communication skills in backcountry scenarios
• Update knowledge with the latest best practices in wilderness medicine

What to Know

• Online pre-course reading and the written test must be completed before attending the in-person session
• Two full days of in-person, hands-on training in El Cerrito
• Please bring all weather comfortable clothes, lunch, water, and a notebook
• ⛺ Camping Option Available: Onsite camping is available for class participants for $25 on Saturday night (possible option to add Friday night camping as well). Let us know if you’re interested in camping when you register!
