The American Red Cross Safety Training for Swim Coaches (STSC) course, developed in partnership with USA Swimming, is intended to teach those involved in competitive swimming, including coaches, officials, athletic trainers and aquatic exercise trainers, how to help maintain a comfortable and safe environment for swimmers, prevent accidents and emergencies and respond to swimmers with illnesses or injuries in water or on land.
Participants can also get certified in CPR & AED. This will help participants recognize and respond appropriately to cardiac and breathing emergencies. The course teaches the skills that participants need to know to give immediate care to a suddenly injured or ill person until more advanced medical personnel arrive and take over.
Safety Training for Swim Coaches includes two components; 1) web-based delivery of online content and 2) a facility-based in-water skills session.
