Register now for the Wilderness First Responder Re-Certification Hybrid

Instead of offering a 3 day WFR Re-cert Class, we will be teaching a 2 day Hybrid WFR Re-cert with an on-line component to make up for the shorter number of hours.

The key difference with the 2 Day Hybrid version, is that all testing happens prior to the in-person class. This includes the patient assessment test. We found that this change added a dramatic improvement to the scenario experiences for all students.

If your card expired prior to February 1, 2023, please contact Bobbie directly and she will let you know if you are eligible for this class or what are your options.

If you are needing a WFR Re-cert but not ready for an in-person class or cannot make these dates, please contact Bobbie directly to for information on other options.

The only other 2023 scheduled in-person WFR Recert class is scheduled for September 23-24, 2023 in Napa, CA. On-line only classes are also available – with a one year extension of card.

February 25-26, 2023 – Livermore Foothills, CA

Saturday 8am – 7pm

Sunday 8am – 5pm

3 year card – $325.00 (includes camping at site Friday and Saturday night)

Masks are required for this class. We may also be requiring both a negative PCR test and a rapid at-home type test prior to the class.

Once you register and paid for the class, we will email you the following info:

2. An additional on-line written test related to Covid-19 and new protocols.

3. Splint check-off.

4. Patient Assessment Video and Test.

a. Once you are ready, you will need to send in a video of a patient assessment on a patient of your choice. You will be emailed info on where to place cameras, etc.

b. Your video will be reviewed to make sure cameras and sound will work. Your video will also be review to make sure you are ready for the test. We may ask you to practice some more and redo your video.

c. Once you have passed all the above, we will set up via zoom with an instructor for a patient assessment test. You need to provide the patient.

d. Your patient assessment test will be video taped. The video will be emailed to Foster Calm. The instructor testers will not keep a copy of the video. Foster Calm may keep the video for up to 3 years.

Required Technology

This class is going to involve a Zoom patient assessment test and prior to the test, sending us a video of an assessment.

In addition to an adequate internet connection, you will need a fairly recent Mac or PC (preferably not more than three-years-old) with a current operating system to complete the course activities. Because it’s built using web standards, Zoom & other programs used by Foster Calm this year should run on Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, Android, or any other device with an up-to-date web browser.

Webcam and Microphone

We will use Zoom video conferencing and so you will need a webcam and microphone. Most computers. phones and tablets have integrated cameras and microphones, but you should check your computer to ensure both works and to familiarize yourself with the settings. Zoom can also be installed as an app on your mobile device.

You will need to have at least two camera’s signed in during the Zoom patient test. We will provide guidelines of where to place cameras, etc.

In most situations, the microphone from your camera will work, as long as student and patient talk loudly. Some have found it helpful if the patient wear an earbud/earphone with a microphone that is blue-toothed to the phone. A wired microphone can work, just a little more awkward with the cord.

Zoom Guides

If you are new to using Zoom, please view Zoom Video Guides (https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/206618765-Zoom-Video-Tutorials) available that will assist you with a variety of FAQs.
