The course is conducted in a blended learning style\, consisting of approximately 1-2 hours of online learning and 1 hour of in-person skills practice. \n \nThe HSI CPR program is designed to help participants gain or improve their proficiency in CPR\, AED and choking emergencies for adults\, and children. Upon successful completion\, participants will receive a 2-year CPR certification. This course reflects the latest resuscitation science and treatment recommendations from the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) and aligns with the 2020 American Heart Association (AHA) Guidelines Update for CPR and ECC. This course exceeds OSHA requirements. \n  \nCourse Details: \nAfter registration\, participants will receive a link to the online video program. Before the in-person skills practice session on Saturday\, August 9th\, students must watch all assigned videos. The hands-on practice session will take place from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM after the Wilderness First Aid class. \n  \nImportant Information About Registration: \n\nThis class is non-refundable and non-transferable. Full attendance is required to complete the program. \n\nCourse Details\nBefore attending\, participants must complete: \n\nAn online training program (view system requirements)\nReading the r24 American Red Cross Lifeguard Participant Manual (accessible as an eBook after registration)\n\nThe in-person session will focus on: \n\nWater rescue techniques\nHands-on practice for CPR/AED and First Aid\n\n\nTo Successfully Complete the Course\n\nFinish the online training before attending the in-person session\nParticipate actively in all course activities\, including skill practices and scenarios\nDemonstrate proficiency in all skills\nPass the final written exam with a score of 80% or higher\nPass all three final skill assessments\n\n\nPrerequisites\n\nMust hold a current American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification\nBe at least 15 years old\nPass the following swimming requirements:\n\nSwim-Tread-Swim Sequence\nJump in\, submerge\, resurface\, and swim 50 yards using front crawl\, breaststroke\, or both (goggles allowed).
